As a general rule, it is recommended to test one’s sterility after one year of attempting to conceive without success or where the woman is over 35 or a possible cause is already known (problems with the menstrual cycle, gynaecological or urological pathology). In the case of miscarriages, it is recommended to begin tests where there have been 2 or more miscarriages previously.
Where a couple has a family history of genetic diseases with repercussions for their offspring, tests should take place before to trying to conceive.
